Silver Jewellery

COURSE OUTLINE:

Silver is a precious metal that can be used for a diverse range of items from jewellery to vessels for eating and drinking. It can be softened, cut, shaped, hammered, formed, soldered and decorated in a variety of ways. Using a range of simple tools and basic techniques you will learn to create exciting and unique jewellery.

The course will include short demonstrations by the tutor when required, with the majority of the course taking the form of practical progress on your own personal project, and individual guidance from the tutor when required.

 

 

COURSE PROGRAMME:

Session 1:  Produce design ideas; practise cutting and shaping; production of individual design prototype

 

Session 2: Transfer design onto silver; introduction to using tools and equipment for cutting and shaping silver

 

Session 3:  Introduction to soldering; texturing, surface finishing and refining finished piece

 

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT INCLUDED: All necessary tools and equipment; prototyping and trialling materials

 

MATERIALS SUPPLIED AT COST: Silver sheet and silver wire as required, approx. £25
